Create Query-Based Collections
Create Query-Based Collections to group multiple Sets under a single friendly name for easier management and access assignment. Query-Based Collections serve as containers for Sets, with membership automatically updated by the Set Compiler Job based on the criteria defined in the associated Sets.
Prerequisites
Before creating Query-Based Collections, ensure you have:
- Access to create Query-Based Collections in EmpowerID
- (Optional) One or more Sets already created if you want to associate them during creation
Procedure

Navigate to Role Management > Query-Based Collections (SetGroup).

Select the Actions tab.

Click Create a Query-Based Collection (SetGroup).

In the Create Query-Based Collection form, configure the collection settings:
Field Description Name Enter the internal name used for system reference Display Name Enter the user-friendly name displayed in the EmpowerID interface Description Enter a description explaining the collection's purpose Is a collection of person objects Select if the collection contains person objects. Leave unselected if the collection contains other resource types such as groups, mailboxes, or SharePoint sites Location Select where the collection is stored. The default is Anywhere. Click the X to clear the default and search for a specific location -
Click Submit.

The Operation Execution Summary displays confirming the collection creation. Click OK.

The Select Queries lookup dialog opens automatically. Choose one of the following options:
- To associate Sets now: Search for and select the Sets to include by selecting their checkboxes, then click Submit
- To skip Set association: Click Skip to create the collection without Sets. You can add Sets later by editing the collection

If you associated Sets in step 7, the Operation Execution Summary displays confirming the Set associations. Click OK.
Verify the Results
After creating the Query-Based Collection:
- Navigate to Role Management > Query-Based Collections (SetGroup).
- Search for the Query-Based Collection you created by name.
- Verify the collection appears in the list with the correct Display Name.
- Click the collection's name to open its details page and confirm:
- All configuration settings are correct
- Associated Sets appear if you added them during creation
