Edit Management Role Owners & Deputies
When personnel changes occur or you need to redistribute Management Role responsibilities, you can update the ownership and deputy assignments for existing Management Roles. This ensures proper governance oversight and maintains clear accountability for role management.
Access Requirements: You must have appropriate permissions to manage the specific Management Role you want to modify.
Use this workflow when transferring role ownership due to personnel changes, adding backup managers, or updating governance responsibilities for Management Roles.
Before You Start
You need access to the Resource Admin application to edit Management Role ownership. If you can't access this workflow, contact your administrator to request permissions.
Make sure you have:
- Knowledge of who should be the new Responsible Party, Owners, or Deputies
- Understanding of the current ownership structure you're modifying
Get Started
- Navigate to the Resource Admin portal.
- Select Management Roles from the resource type menu.
- Click the Workflows tab.
- Find and click Manage Management Role Wizard.

- Select the Management Role you want to modify by checking the box next to it, then click Next.

- Select Edit Owners & Deputies from the available actions.
The workflow will open showing the current ownership configuration.

Update Ownership and Deputies

Update the ownership assignments as needed: Responsible Party:
- To change the current Responsible Party, click the X to clear the current selection, then search for and select the new person with business accountability for this role.
- To keep the current Responsible Party, leave the field unchanged.
Manage Owners:
- Current Owners are displayed in a table with Remove/Keep options. Click Remove to delete an owner or Keep to retain them.
- Select Owner(s) - Use the search field to find and add new owners who can manage this role.
Manage Deputies:
- Current Deputies are displayed in a table with Remove/Keep options. Click Remove to delete a deputy or Keep to retain them.
- Select Deputies - Use the search field to find and add new backup managers for the role.

Click Next to review your changes.

Click Submit to apply the ownership updates.
Complete the Workflow

Review the Operation Execution Summary to confirm your changes were applied successfully:
The summary shows the specific ownership assignments that were executed. -
Click Submit to continue.

Choose your next action:

- Do you want to manage the same Management Role? - Select this to perform additional actions on the same role.
- Do you want to manage different Management Role(s)? - Select this to work with other Management Roles.
- Do you want to finish the workflow? - Select this to complete the process and exit the wizard.

Click Submit to proceed with your selected option.
What Happens Next
- Ownership and responsible party changes take effect immediately.
- New Owners gain RBAC permissions to manage the role .
- New Deputies can act as backup managers when primary owners are unavailable.
- Previous owners and deputies lose their management access abilities for this role.
If You Run Into Problems
Can't find the person you want to assign: Verify the person exists in the system and you have permission to assign them. Contact your administrator if needed.
Changes don't appear to take effect: Ownership changes are immediate, but some interfaces may require a refresh to show updated information.
